I want to start this post off first by saying that I am not an expert or any kind of authority on this subject.
This is just my experience and journey towards developing the best version of me I can be. My hope is that you get something from my experience however I strongly recommend that you do your own research before using any of the technologies discussed in this post.
I will leave links to valuable recourses at the bottom of this post
Now that is out of the way, let start at the beginning…
What is Brainwave Entrainment Technology?
Brainwave Entrainment is any procedure that causes one’s brainwave frequencies to synchronize with a periodic stimulus (sound, vibration or light) having a frequency corresponding to the intended brain-state (for example, to induce a trance, dreams, sleep or relaxation.)
It is sometimes called the Flicker-response because of how staring at a campfire or the flickering of a burning candle can lull you into a state of calmness and serenity. There was an extensive article on this phenomenon by Gerard Oster in Scientific American in 1973. It may sound novel, but in many ways, this is old tech.
Most wisdom traditions have employed methods that allow the subjects’ brain waves to slow down such as meditation, [Hindu] kirtan, [Gregorian, Menzuma or Sufi] chanting, Hebrew davening, Native American drum circles and rain chants, Tibrainwave entrainment technologyan prayer bowls, and whirling dervishes and African trance dancing. The rhythm of these wisdom tradition technologies actually slows people’s brain waves from their normal busy brain frequency we call Brainwave entrainment technologya (13-30 cycles per second or Hz), to Alpha (8-13Hz) — meditation, Theta (4-8Hz) — deep relaxation and dreaming, and Delta (.5-4Hz) — slow wave or dreamless sleep. Why I Started Using This Technology
I started using this technology was primary to two reasons, like all avid students of personal development I am always on the lookout for knowledge and technology that can improve my life.
For the longest time I had struggled to create the daily habit of meditation. It was something I knew was important but could barely do it longer than 10 minutes and each time I would create the habit I would fall short after just two or three days.
The second thing that pushed me to discover this technology was that I was suffering from depression, anxiety and was overall pretty sad after breaking up with my girlfriend at the time.
Because of this I was heading in a downward spiral fast that was taking everything in my life with it so I went looking for a solution to help me get back on track.
When I first came across brainwave entrainment technology I had my reservations but I was open to them, so I did some research and ordered the best one I could find.
They sent out a bunch of CD’s and some instructions – listen to the first half hour track using stereo headphones everyday for two weeks then listen to the full hour long track.

The next morning I got up an hour earlier, sat in a chair in my room, put my headphones on a pressed play.
The sound was a weird mild buzzing camouflaged in rain drops and tibial bowl sounds and…
I was immediately hooked. It felt incredible.
I won’t lie to you, I have had my fair share of experimenting with recreational drugs and some of the feelings I got from listening to the brainwave entrainment audio provided glimpses of some of those experiences.
But most importantly it made meditation effortless which was my main goal in the first place. The time went by without me thinking about it which made creating the habit of mediation not just easy, but I began looking forward to it.
I used that particular brainwave entrainment course almost every day for the next two years straight and my life took a radical turnaround.
I went from depressed, sad and angry, on the verge of lose my job and floating around sleeping on friends coaches and backpacker hostels to someone who is always happy, calm and present.
My sales career went from being told that if I didn’t make a sale from the next 10 leads I saw then I was didn’t have a job (of which I got down to the last 2) to becoming the top sales consultant two years in a row and living in an ocean front penthouse apartment.
Now I would not hold them solely responsible for this success that would be foolish because I know how much I worked my ass off to achieve that.
It is also hard to quantify the true impact meditating and listening to brainwave entrainment technology could have had but what I do know is that without them, it wouldn’t have happened so intuitively.
One of the side benefits I quickly discovered by using brainwave entrainment they made it very easy to create vivid visualizations of my goals which helped activate my reticular activating system assisting in bringing my goals to reality.
This compounded with the heightened awareness I was receiving allowed me to notice synchronicity between events much easier which ultimately lead to the fulfillment of many of my goals at the time.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing though; there were some rough patches where different emotions that had been suppressed came bubbling back to the surface. But with continued practise they were soon released and the weight was gone.
After experiencing good results with the first program I started researching and trying other products and technologies. One that stood out was a type of technology dubbed Paraliminals.
Which uses a combination of brainwave entrainment technology, hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), they are shorter usually around 20 minutes long and focus primary on one specific area.
I brought the whole library and started using these to help enhance various areas of my life. I found these to be very effective tool and successfully quit smoking using the Smoke Free Paraliminal.
I also used them to boost my self confidence, change limiting beliefs, and enhance focus and productivity. They are not something to listen to every day but I have found them great if you just need a boost in a certain area.
My Routine And Some Helpful Tips
I found it much easier to listen to them in the morning. When I wake up I have a shower, drink some fresh water about 200ml and then meditate with the brainwave entrainment technology.
Personally I find if I do it first thing in the morning I’m more likely to stay with the habit but there is really no set time. I would suggest just find a time that best suits your schedule and commit to the same time every day.
I like to use the bigger videogame style headphones because they have great sound and are very comfortable for long periods of time.
From most of the material I have read it is suggested that you sit in a folded leg position known as the lotus in yoga circles but it doesn’t really matter that much.
I sat in a comfortable chair for the first few years and it was fine, I would suggest finding a chair that sits up right and not a couch that you sink into and slouch. You want to try and keep you back straight which helps the energy follow and will help prevent you from falling sleep.
A couple of other things I do, I put the tip of my tongue to the roof of my mouth, according to much ancient knowledge it connects the front and back energy systems.
The other thing I have found helpful is if I am having a hard time centring or quieting the mind I will either focus on observing my breathe or say a mantra.
A mantra is just a sound or word to focus on to help you centre your mind, if you don’t have a mantra of not sure what to say I like the words I Love You and Thank You.
How It Has Benefited My Life
As I mentioned before it is hard to quantity the exact impact and benefits listening to brainwave entrainment technology has had, however I will tell what I did notice and why I will continue to use them for the foreseeable future.
To start with, listening to brainwave entrainment technology succeeded in providing me a tool to create the daily habit of meditation and make it fun and easy to do.
I was able to bring unresolved emotional issues to the surface and help release them, resulting in a brighter outlook and overall happiness. This was a big thing for me at the time as I was holding on to many false and disempowering stories and beliefs that were really holding me back and causing destruction.
There is also a lot of research done on how stress and emotions affect the body and disease so I think it is good to centre yourself at least once a day
I notice a stronger connection to intuition; synchronicity showed up more often and became more aware of how things are connected. I have become a lot more emphatic and less judgmental and felt that oneness so often reported.
I have gained a much deeper awareness of my body, mind and spirit.
I am sure there are many more but they are the ones that are standing out to me at the moment.
The Brainwave Entrainment Technology I Recommend
As I mentioned first thing in this post I recommend you do your own research before using these technologies however here is a list of the products that I have used and worked best for me.
Holysnc – This is the first one I started with and has probably had the biggest impact so far. You do need to be consistent and commit to the long term.
Paraliminals – These are great for short term boost (1 to 7 days at a time) that focus on one specific area at a time. I own The Ultimate You Library and Abundance For Life and highly recommend them both.
Brain Evolution System – This is a 6 month course, at the time of writing this I am in month two and so far I really like this one and I have high expectations for it. You can get a free demo here
Omvana – This is a great tool and a cheap alternative if you can’t afford the more expensive ones. Omvana is an App for your Smartphone that has a big library or guided meditations, binary beats, hypnosis and such. You can mix and match and create your own tracks and many are free too.
Transcendental Meditation – This is a popular meditation practiced by millions around the world. Even though this is not about brainwave entrainment technology it is worth mentioning if you want to learn more about mediation and its benefits make sure to visit their website at tm.org. Click here to watch an interview with Joe Polish and Russell Simmons talk about Transcendental Meditation and why he is a big advocate for meditation.
Meditation Reduces Violent Crime & Terrorism - There are many studies that have shown how groups of people collectively meditating can have a positive impact on communities.
